Michael A. O'Brien is a Vice President at Alaric. His experience includes working with chief compliance
officers in establishing, monitoring and testing compliance programs for SEC and FINRA registered firms
including investment advisers, business development companies, hedge funds and broker-dealers.
Prior to joining Alaric, Mr. O’Brien was a legal and compliance intern at Two Sigma Investments LP, a
hedge fund with $50 billion assets under management. At Two Sigma, Mr. O’Brien worked on a wide
variety of projects in several legal areas, including investment management, technology, and data
Mr. O’Brien also served as a judicial intern in the Chambers of the Honorable Lisa Margaret Smith, U.S.
Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of New York, in White Plains, New York. In Judge Smith’s
Chambers, Mr. O’Brien conducted legal research, prepared bench memoranda, and drafted orders and
Mr. O’Brien earned a J.D. from Fordham Law School, where he was a writing fellow, a legal writing
teaching assistant, and a staff member on the Fordham Journal of Corporate and Financial Law. He has
B.A. and M.A. degrees in philosophy from Boston College. And, is a Certified Information Privacy
Professional (CIPP/US, CIPP/G, CIPP/C, CIPP/E, CIPP/A), a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM),
and a Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT).
