In the post-Madoff world investors have increased their due diligence
of hedge funds, but some may neglect making the most important call -
to the chief compliance officer. Guy F. Talarico,
CEO of Alaric Compliance Services, LLC, says institutional investors who
interview chief compliance officers want to know that a fund has a robust,
independent function to supervise calculation of the fund’s net
asset value, capital balance statements and pricing methods and services.
“Firms are going to permit this level of dialogue to occur –
and that’s a good practice,” Talarico said.
